Piazza Navonna

Mom smiling in Piazza Navonna. We had to travel pretty far to obtain this particular smile.

The Only Music is Time

The new poster for the
poetry festival arrived
yesterday and I pass it
in the hall a few times
each day. It features a
little bit of the poem
" King of the River."

"The only music is time,
the only dance is love."

No Day at the Beach

Kadie's on vacation and the office is remarkably quiet. She's at the Jersey Shore. This is a photo an artist took of the Jersey shore from an airplane. I am not at the Jersey shore today.

Happy Birthday Patty

Patty, everywhere i look, i see your beautiful fingerprints,
on your beautiful family
on the website to honor dad
on mom's forehead as you helped her cross the
ocean on that long, long flight
on her back as you helped her through the longer journey
of dad's illness
on the smiling face of Richard Mee
on his smiling family, listening to you describe him
on Frankie's smiling face on the front porch
on Malcolm's face as he described his renewed sense of
dedication to his research
on the faces of all the shopkeepers in the dig-zone
on the faces of parents and teachers
at The Roosevelt School
on the faces of truman and the peacock
on the hearts of all the Italians who fell
in love with you one summer
on my program guide
on your governor's brain and heart
on all your clients fabulous work

and i know....i am leaving
out sooo many other things...

but the message is the same.
you've spent so much time loving and
helping others. you are a mighty light
and a blessing to all of us who know you.
your example reminds us of what we could
and should be doing for others.

enjoy, celebrate, revel in your birthday.
you bring joy to SO many people and nothing
would make them happier than to see you
smiling on your birthday. With great love
and admiration, barbara.

The Studio Window

This was our view as we worked on the Tibetan rites each morning..."The rites represent a system of exercise that affects the body, emotions and mind. The Tibetans claim that these exercises activate and stimulate the seven key chakras that in turn stimulate all the glands of the endocrine system. The endocrine system is responsible for the body's overall functioning and aging process. This means that the Five Rites will affect the functioning of all your organs and systems, including the physical and energetic systems and that includes the aging process. The man who brought these Five Rights out of Tibet stated that "performing the Five Rites stimulates the circulation of essential life energy throughout the body".

The Universe Works on a Math Equation

some say that at the break of day
all the stars collide
to create our sun
and at night
the sun falls apart
to create stars.

Limns at Lux

The first night in the monastery we assembled at the table for dinner in a random fashion. The buttoned linen napkin holder in front of me was embroidered with the word Lux..."the area over which the luminous flux is spread".

Returning from the 15th Century

Back from Viterbo with lots of experiences and memories to unpack. The entire trip had a dream-like quality.
