Collaboration With Nature

Beautiful work by Andy Goldsworthy

Noisy Rainbow

"I was out on my porch and it was a uniformly grey, dismal day for a Christmas. Suddenly, in a flash of bright color, five big blue jays flew in and began to pillage the wild raisin bush in the yard. Then a pair of fire red cardinals lit on the branch followed by two bluebirds and two red headed woodpeckers. It was like the circus had come to town. They all seemed to be travelling together for in an eye blink that noisy rainbow had moved on."

Ryan and Owen this Christmas

Dec 18 2007 Mom and Patty

Took me awhile to get this on my blog...and i apologize for the quality of the video.

The Kennedy Center Awards

I posted "Surf's Up" on Christmas day because while wrapping presents and getting ready for Christmas, a tribute to Brian Wilson came on TV and really made me stop and pause and enjoy the moment I was in. I was very grateful that his music had the power to take me somewhere else. A few nights later, I happened to be watching TV when the Kennedy Center Awards aired and enjoyed watching that tribute to Brian as well. Today, Michael forwarded this email from one of his friends and I thought it needed to be here because it's part of the Brian Wilson Holiday Serendipity...thing.

"...And no art form touches people like music. It can penetrate
any soul. It requires no sit-down viewing, no particular attention.
A tune can catch you when you're not paying attention, and
grab you by the hand and take you to a land where love and
happiness rule.

Brian Wilson knows this land."

For the record, sir, this decision was mine

Endless scratching and gnawing from A.T.T.I.C.

"I never let school interfere with my education."

Mark Twain

Choosing a college never gets easier. You wish you could simplify the process for your children. You can't. Did you know that Thomas Jefferson and John Stewart both attended the College of William and Mary ? I just learned that tonight.
